Course Objectives

This course will feature one day of informal seminar style lectures and one day of laboratory-based practical training on allergen detection systems.

This year we will highlight the importance of public health problems associated with environmental allergens, detection of allergens in food and standardisation and validation of therapeutics for allergy.

Tuesday 26th September (Day 1)

Lectures and discussions on:

  • Health Effects of Indoor Allergens
  • Environmental assessment and interventions to improve indoor air quality
  • Detection of allergens in food: Regulation and molecular diagnostics

Wednesday 27th September (Day 2)

A Day in the Lab!

Integrated laboratory practical sessions provide detailed instruction, protocols and “hands on” analytical techniques for allergen detection. These include ELISA 2.0 and MARIA™ technology for measuring up to 13 allergens simultaneously. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn in a relaxed, informal environment.

Who Should Attend?

Allergists, respiratory and health care professionals seeking to learn more about indoor allergens and allergic disease; indoor air quality and environmental specialists; companies manufacturing allergen control devices, household cleaning products or environmental products; companies involved with allergy diagnostics and therapeutics, food industry and food risk assessment companies.
